Many people said “Zagreb is not worth it”, many people said “Zagreb is a one day stop at the most”, I said “let me see it myself and figure it out!” and guess what? Zagreb was my favorite part of Croatia!!!!

The city was not like Dubrovnik or Split screaming “tourists come and see me!” instead it had character, it had an ambiance, it had an authentic beauty that you only get by walking among the locals or sitting on a park bench like any Croat.

My first day started by Pia, my roommate at the hostel, sharing some amazing tea with me and then heading out to get something to eat.
After lunch we decided to part ways since we wanted to do different things but as we walked towards the Tourist info we bumped into a sign that said “tunnel” and I remembered April telling me about some cool tunnels she walked to the day before so we decided to go. The tunnels were created during WWII as shelter and promenade and nowadays is open for people to walk through it and it had a flower exposition at the time.

After the tunnel I said bye to Pia and went to the T.I and got probably the best walking tour brochure I’ve gotten from any tourist desk. The step by step guide gave two different walks, one for the upper and one for the lower town.

My first stop was around the corner from the TI at the museum of broken relationships. I was excited for it since I had read it was awesome but I left disappointed, maybe because I was expecting the stories to be more dramatic!

From the museum I started the walk of the upper town backwards.

First I stopped near a church and checked out the view of the cathedral from there.

Turtle painting... weird

I kept following the street and ended up in the beautiful St Mark's square.

I then went through the old gate, the only gate remaining intact, and found a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary. In the chapel there was an old painting that was recovered from a fire in the 1700s.

The walk continued downhill and passed by the "bloody bridge" and Radiceva street and ended up by the beautiful cathedral.

Zagreb's beautiful cathedral

From then on I did the lower town walk; I don't exactly remember what I saw but the architecture was just so beautiful!

I passed through so many parks, Zagreb definitely has a lot of green in between the many buildings! So nice to walk around!

My three days in Zagreb were awesome, I absolutely loved the vibe of this city!
