Ephesus and Troy

I arrived at the bus station in Selcuk when it was already dark out and while I was looking at my phone to see which way to go, a man came to me and asked me where I was staying, took my bag and walked me to my hostel.

To my surprise I was THE ONLY guest in the whole place and had a 12 mixed dorm all to myself! So nice!

Pamukkale

I wasn’t really sure about wether or not to go to Pamukkale since I googled it and it just looked like some thermal pools and I’m not a fan of swimming in other people’s germs. My friend Simone had highly recommended them and when I talked to my friend Leslie she said “Pamukkale is something I would go back to Turkey for” so… I booked an early bus ride to Pamukkale on my way to Selcuk.

Made it to Fetiyeh really early in the morning and checked into one of the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The dorm had 6 beds and each pod had a curtain and a flat screen tv on it. I rested for a little bit and then went to the bathroom and the charm of the hostel went out the window! The bathroom was so small one could barely fit. When I sat on the toilet I could barely close the door because my knees touched the door. The funniest thing happened the next morning when I went in to brush my teeth and a guy was taking a shower; he looked up from the shower and we could see each other, he even asked me if I could hold his wrist band and put it somewhere, I didn’t even have to fully extend my arm to grab it from him! We both started laughing at the awkwardness of the bathroom and started a conversation… while he showered!!! So many points  deducted for the bad bathroom!

Made it to Cappadocia!  After a long 12 hour bus ride to Goreme I finally arrived.

My time in Istanbul!

Now it’s time for a new country… Turkey!
I think I was more sad about leaving Iran than excited to go and explore a new place but it was time to move on.

I arrived in Istanbul and after an hour + in the immigration line I finally got to the baggage claim to not find my bag… great!
My mom always says that whatever is yours is yours and it makes the way back to you so with that in mind I calmly went to pegasus’ lost baggage counter and asked if they had seen my bag. It actually turned out to be in the wrong belt with a different flight info on it. I left the airport and was ready to find the metro to get to my host’s (Funda) house in Istanbul. I walked around the airport and saw no signs for the metro and thought it was very weird. Since I had no cellphone nor wifi I decided to ask a local (by using sign language) if I could use their phone. I phoned my host and I was on my way. I went out with instruction from Funda to still find no metro. Well, long story short… 3 phone calls later from total strangers I figured out that I was in the wrong airport, way far from my host’s house. At the end it took me 2 hours to fly from Iran and 4 hours to get to Istanbul and be rescued on the street by one of Funda’s friends who came to pick me up and take me to her house.
