Back to Budapest!

I decided to go to Budapest since it was the cheapest way of getting back to the Southern part of the Balkans without spending days in a bus trying to avoid crossing through Serbia because I need a visa for it.

Five years ago I spent a week in Budapest with my cousin and friends so I really didn’t want to do the whole tourist thing again so I decided to relax and take a break from all the traveling I have been doing.

Instagram 4 ½ years ago!

In between my breaks of being a tourist I decided that I at least needed to go out and explore a little bit of the city but the more I walked the more my heart and my head kind of opposed the whole idea. It was really crazy how many memories came back, at times I knew exactly what would come next on a street! Once I even heard my head say “on the next block the grassy Budapest sign will be on your left” and “soon there will be the McDonalds were you got wifi to see if Stephanie had texted before the boat trip down the river” and just like that not only thoughts came to my mind but also could feel and experience what had happened before.
I decided to skip many of the things that I had done with them just because I want to treasure those memories and didn’t want to walk the same streets and get new memories, maybe that’s why I am not a big fan of doing the same cities twice.

I stayed at a super party hostel with a bunch of 20 years old so every day I was invited to go out to bars (the starting time was 11pm, the end time about 5am… so yeah, I skipped the bars every night!) but on sunday afternoon I decided to join some of the girls to the 360 bar to get a drink and a nice view of Budapest.

The next day I decided to do something I didn’t do before and went on a hike to the Liberty statue and got great views of the city!
But before of course I went to the central market to get some food before the walk!

The central market

Eating Langos, a traditional dish of Hungary!

And then I started the walking...

Through the  bridge

The mountains, the church, the ferris wheel, the white bridge, the tram... Budapest!

The market from up high

Made it to the top!

The night before my last one I told myself I needed to see Budapest once again by night so I went out and walked the beautiful streets!

Now... I'm ready to see the rest of the Balkans!!!
