First Greek Island... Naxos

While planning the trip I had to chose where to go, where to stay, how long to stay, and how to get there so after much research and asking my good friends for advise I decided to go to Naxos, the biggest island of the Cyclades, and then to Santorini. We stayed 3 nights in each island which was just perfect.

We woke up super early in Athens and by 5:30am we were out of our AirBnB and in the metro to the Port of Piraeus!

I really didn’t know what to expect from Naxos but both my mom and I were very impressed with the island.

To begin with we stayed in a beautiful little studio close to  town so it was easy to walk around and get a feeling for the island.

On our first day we dropped off our bags and went for some delicious lunch at one of the local tavernas and in the afternoon we went for a stroll by the water and watched the sunset by the famous Arch of Naxos.

Enjoying the sunset!

The following day we decided to stay around town and walk the village. It was beautiful to see all the people getting ready for the season, many men were painting hotels, restaurants, and even the floor with white paint!

Walking the narrow alleys just wonderful! I loved taking pictures of the typical white walls with flowers and blue (or colorful) doors and windows!

While walking we only bumped into one couple... twice!
The island was pretty much only for us! I loved it!

The island is full of cats!

So many shops were still closed until the start of summer!

Sometimes we couldn't even get dinero!

Beautiful local art!

I think our favorite part of the day was our lunch at Meze Meze, an amazing family run restaurant on the main street of Naxos.
Delicious baked feta cheese

Mom decided to try ocyopus

For our 3rd and last day we decided to rent a car and drive around the island and it was hands down the best thing we did! There are actually no words to describe the beauty of the island and of course the pictures don’t really show what our eyes got to see!
I drove the super windy roads of the island for 9 hours and stopped in different little towns to take in the view and all of the places were just as beautiful.

Our first official stop was at a super cute Pottery workshop.

The cutest lady!

Then we stopped at a beautiful town and I was just in love with the colors and the cuteness of it all! To me, it really felt like what my idea of Greece was!

I spy a kitty!

I just love love love taking pictures of doors and old windows and this island was just perfect for that!

How nice is it to eat in this place? So cute!

Amazing Greek salad!!!

There were so many cute towns so we had to stop in all of them!

Mom's coffee stop!

I love seeing laundry hanging!

Our last stop of the day... a beach town

Many times tourists just go to Mykonos or Santorini but Naxos was so worth it, and it was so empty when we got there that one actually gets to enjoy it!

Our 3 days went by fast but before we left to Santorini we had one last opportunity to have lunch so we picked yet another amazing restaurant, Ammos!
