My next stop was Penang, the food capital of Malaysia!!!

I was in food heaven so that’s pretty much all I did… eat, eat, and eat some more!!! In the hostel I met a spanish guy, Marcos, and he was my partner in crime in all my eating escapades!

Georgetown is full of restaurants and cafes but the most popular places to eat are food courts, they are literally everywhere. Each food court has different stalls and tables in the middle so you walk around, order, and then sit down. I had the chance to try many Malaysian delicacies! Yum!

One of the many food courts!
Now the food...

Hokkien Mee

Marcos food covered in a red sauce!

Laksa!

Rojak... Fruit covered in a black sauce. It was ok, better without the sauce though!

In Penang I stayed in Georgetown and I just loved to walk around and look at all their old buildings. Such a nice little town!

These buildings are so cool!

coconuts anyone?

The jetties

The mosque in the back

The most gigantic incense I have ever seen!

More little India!
The next great thing about Penang was their street art! A couple of years ago an artist was hired to paint murals all over town and it’s fun to walk around and find many of these paintings... I loved walking around and finding them in random places! I loved how the artist at times used materials to make the paintings come alive.

Lady lighting up incense.

Kids trying to get bun out of the basket.

Food stand!

Kids playing basketball

Meow!

Kids on a bicycle

Kid on a motorcycle

Boy and the dinosaur!

There are also many temples and I visited a Burmese and a Thai temple with Una from my hostel. The thai temple was so blingy it was funny to look at.

The giant lying Buddha

On my last day I ventured to Kek Lok si Temple, apparently the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia.

I spy a temple!

After 5 days in Penang i returned to KL in an overnight bus with Uma. Apparently we are both very good sleepers and we slept through our stop, and the next stop. I woke up as the driver was parking the bus a km away from the station! haha I immediately woke up Uma at 5:30am and we walked over to the driver and told them we were getting off at Central Station and he said “I said central station, you asleep”… I spent the next hour and a half getting to my hostel!
