Don’t ask me how to pronounce the name of this city because I have no idea! Albanian language is very hard!

I got a bus from Tirana and after a couple of hours I made it to Shkoder!!!

During my days in Shkoder I visited the castle (shocking, I know!!!) which was like an hour walk from the hostel but the views from up there were worth it!

I see the castle... now I just have to walk up the hill to get to it!

I see the whole of Shkoder!

While exploring the castle grounds I noticed this guy kind of following me and I kind of kept just moving away but he always showed up wherever I was. After a little while I saw him go into the security booth so I figured he worked there. Once again he showed up next to me and I think he saw my face of confusion so he told me he worked as security and he showed me some secret spots around the castle... so cool!

The mountains in the back are kosovo!

My favorite thing in the castle... sitting there, taking it all in!

I also went around the lake on a bike.

My favorite part though was spending the afternoons at the park looking at the people hanging out there. I absolutely loved seeing all the older men dressed up and hanging out with friends at the park. Many of them would gather around and play dominos. I also saw little kids around the fountains going round and round in bicycles or rented fancy motorized cars. The more I hung out at the parks and walked around town trying to fins places to eat the more I started noticing that most of the people out were the men… WHERE ARE THE WOMEN?!?! Oh, Yes! You know where women still belong in Albania? In the freaking kitchen! While their husbands go out for a walk or for coffee with friends the women are at home making dinner and making sure everything is ready for when the husband gets home!!!

All this guy does is sell cigarettes! Yuk!

Probably my favorite picture... Loved watching these 3 guys!
Walking the bike

Hey! They let the women out!

Grandma is out!

Reading the Obituary

Los tres amigos!

Domino time!

Super cute couple, even their walk was coordinated!
Friend color-coordinate!

On my last day in Shkoder I went to the Museum of memories, a former prison turned into a museum. This museum is different from the bunk art in Tirana, this one focused on the victims of the dictatorship and genocide that happened in Albania.

Creepy prison!

The torture room!

Cell of a priest who was a prisoner.

All throughout Albania I could see a couple of things... Mercedes Benz, old people, and small convenience stores with a LOT of fruits and vegetables every 50 meters!

Before leaving Shkoder I went for the last walk to take a couple of shots of the town.

Albania was a super nice surprise but now off to Montenegro!
