Second week in Kenya!

The second week in Kenya was a little bit short since we went on a safari on Monday and Tuesday was dedicated to go shopping for materials. Thanks to almost 50 people we were able to buy a lot of materials, outdoors equipment, and even throw a party for the kids.

Going to Kenya this time was a whole lot of mixed emotions!

Musanze

Musanze was my last destination in Rwanda and it was equally beautiful as the other places I visited and guess what? Equally boring! Well, not exactly boring but we ran out of things to do pretty quickly since we didn't want to pay a lot of money to go on hikes and do activities.

Kibuye (Rwanda)

After 2 days in Kigali I decided to keep on moving and visit Kibuye, a town in lake Kivu. I left my host’s house after breakfast and headed to the bus station where once again it felt like I was actually in Africa, lots of guys came to me wanting me to go with a specific bus company to Kibuye.
After I made my choice of bus I got my ticket and got on the bus which left right on time… and half empty!

That’s the real question when you come to East Africa!

From Nairobi I took a night bus to Kampala, Uganda, and let me tell you… I’m not in Tanzania anymore! And it felt so good! Busses are decent! they are not blasting music or have neon lights in them.

Volunteering in Kikuyu... part 3

On day four I left my hosts'  house at 6:30am and walked with materials and took my 2 regular matatus to get to school and an hour and a half later I had arrived! First time I get to see the kids come into the school and it is so disorganized!

So... day one with materials!

Chochote popote…. Anything, anywhere!

Months before I came to Kenya I emailed Tracey to ask her for some suggestions for Kenya since she lived here many years ago, has her business in Nairobi, and travelled with the kids last year. Between the back and forth emails we discovered that we were both going to be in Nairobi at the same time so it was perfect to catch up.

During my time in Nairobi I got time to explore the city and do some fun activities!
