There really wasn’t an easy way to get out of Gdansk and into Lithuania. I looked at the possibility of going into Kaliningrad (a little Russia territory between the countries) but the bus out of there was $40 so I decided it was too much. At the end I had to take a bus back to Warsaw and then a night bus to Kaunas, my first stop in Lithuania.
I arrived in Kaunas at around 7am and walked the empty streets to my hostel. Of course there were no beds ready so I decided to go check out the town before all the tour busses came.
I walked along the streets of charming old town, passing many closed restaurants and looking up at the colorful buildings. I am always glad to see the town when it’s not full of people, to see its true colors, to enjoy the calmness before the tourist storm! But I also enjoy seeing it full of people and lively, mostly at night!

Kaunas like any other city had plenty of churches to visit.

At the end of the town there was the Kaunas Castle, a 14th century castle and the 2nd oldest castle in Lithuania.

There is a lot of street art in Kaunas... I think this one is the most famous!

I also took a very very old funicular up a hill to get a view of Vilnius from the top.

Kaunas was a very small city and easy to see in a couple of hours but my 3 days there were really nice although one of them had rain from 8am until 7pm! But every afternoon I managed to have a pretty nice sunset! <3
