Coming to Perth has been one of the most awaited moments of my trip!

I came to visit my friends Neil and Kate whom I met 2 years ago while traveling South America for 7 weeks in a GAdventures tour group.
Traveling for such a long time meant building really close relationships and friendships that transcend all oceans! Most, if not all, my fondest memories of South America have Neil, Kate, Bianca, Mia, Sita, and/or other travelers... it just fills my heart with happiness when I get to see them again!

I just adore these two! <3
Margaret River

On my first day Neil and Kate took me to visit the Margaret River area, which is kind of our Napa Valley... only better!
The area nearby has the beach, wineries, cool restaurants,  even a couple of caves, and a chocolate factory!!!... see, way better than Napa!

The day started with brunch at Bunkers beach house...
In our tour in South America I kind of became the unofficial tour guide of our little "clique" and together we experienced some of the best restaurants South America has to offer so they know I am a sucker for good food :)

Selfie Time!
Then we went to Bunkers lookout and walked their trail where I got to see one whale splash... once!
It was so great to walk with Kate because she is a flower and plant expert and she would tell me the names and stories of the different plants as we walked.

Then we went to the chocolate factory...
and this is my face at the chocolate factory...

All you can sample chocolate chips!
I saw kids with hands full of chocolate running away from parents!

Then we visited the Lake Caves which were just amazingly beautiful and impressive!!

On our way home Kate and I jumped out of the car when we spotted an area with wild kangaroos and went to check them out. It was super cool to see them hoping all at the same time, they are super fast and probably extremely strong!

Perth City

I went out on my own and explored the city... my first stop was King's park and the Botanical Gardens! The beautiful promenade overlooks the city and it was full of different kinds of flowers and it felt like walking in the middle of a forrest at times. So many birds were chirping all over the place and it was nice to walk and look up and try to spot them on top of the trees, such a relaxing experience... until the place filled with hundreds (and by hundreds I do mean hundreds) of teenagers, and even grown ups, on their phones running like crazy around the park and screaming because there was a Pokemon in the park (apparently a special one!)

All the beautiful flowers...

The State war memorial
Then I took the free bus back to the city and walked by the waterfront

A candle and a prayer for my loved ones!
Then I ended up spending the rest of my afternoon at the Art Gallery of Western Australia

There was a current exposition by a Western Australian artist,  Rebecca Baumann, that consisted of a paper machine throwing one piece of color paper every 3 minutes onto the floor. People are supposed to watch the way the piece of paper falls onto the ground!

Malaysian food for dinner :)
Cohunu Koala Park

awwww.... this was probably the highlight of the day!!! We got to hold and cuddle a Koala!!!! (and took a GAZILION pictures!)

The park not only had koalas, it had many many many animals walking around among us! We got to feed and pet the donkeys, ponies, ducks, birds, and kangaroos.

And then we headed to Caversham Wildlife Park where I got to pet a wombat, pet and feed albino kangaroos, and see a lot of beautiful birds.

A super strange bird that would get some air and then make a very weird noise!

Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo
This one kept looking at its reflexion on Kate's lense!

I think I couldn't stop myself from taking pictures of Koalas every time!
Here are some very interesting facts about Koalas:
1. They sleep between 18 and 20 hours per day (maybe i'm part Koala!)
2. They only eat eucalyptus leaves, which are pretty toxic and not very nutritious, so their bodies have to work really hard to break down the toxins.
3. They do not drink water! They have learned to pick only the juiciest leaves that will give them plenty of water.

The beautiful male bird below was the jumpiest bird I have ever seen! He wanted to get the female bird's attention so he was running back and forth in front of her to get noticed!

Fremantle
For breakfast we went right outside Neil and Kate's house for an amazing breakfast at Piccolo's corner!

For my last day in Perth we went to Fremantle for a little stroll.
