Spent the first 4 days of my trip in Melbourne and it was completely amazing! Melbourne is such a beautiful city and so easy to get around. They even have FREE trams within the city limits!!! how awesome is that?!

I pretty much spent all of my time walking the city non stop and trying a lot of food!

Many people ask me if I ever get lonely or how I am brave enough to always travel on my own but the truth is that no matter where you are you will make friends. Hostels are maybe not the best accommodation in terms of luxury but they do provide you with the opportunity to meet other travelers and make friends.
In my two days in a hostel in Melbourne I went out with both of the girls sharing a room with me. I went to the docklands with Alexis, a girl from Colorado, and to the Botanical Gardens with Gina, from New York. I love listening to other people's stories and making connections that I would not otherwise had made if staying on my own in a hotel.

Apparently Melbourne is the shopping capital of Australia and is filled with so many shops and "arcades", little alleys, with cafes and shops. I loved walking through them and discovering fun little shops, and very unexpected cafes in the middle of what seemed empty alleys. Melbourne gave me the impression of being a less fancy version of Paris!

Loved this purse in the middle of the shopping district

Melbourne is also filled with street art (a lot of graffiti) and I found it a lot of fun to walk around and find random painting all over the city.

My favorite part, though, was seeing some of my friends from past travels and seeing Melbourne through the local lens!

Met my friend Sophia 2 ½ years ago in South East Asia and she has visited me in SF, and went together to Europe last summer.

Met "Nico" 2 years ago in Argentina and traveled together for 2-3 weeks to Uruguay and Brasil.

"Say" and I met a year and ½  ago in India and traveled together for 3 weeks from Delhi to Kochi.

And of course meeting them meant meeting some of their friends, A LOT of food... and some Rosé!

Amazing dessert at Dex2Rose
Funny story about Dex2Rose... I went there with Say and it was so good I immediately texted Sophia that we needed to go there together. She texted me that her brother, Jackson, works there... and he was the guy working at the register who helped me! What a small world!!!!

yummm... Ramen!

Queen Victoria Market

My first night I met with my friends at the night market, they had some interesting selections:

Picture taken by Nico... Always a smile when dessert is around!

During the Day Queen Victoria Market is a huge Farmer's Market/ Street Market. It somehow made me remember when I was a little girl and my grandma used to take me to the central market in San Salvador with her.

My last day in Melbourne was spent visiting the Brighton Beach Boxes with Sophia.

And then St. Kilda

Luna Park

St. Kilda had so so so many cake shops!!! We picked up some desserts to take home from Monarch (better reviews from Zomato, Sophia is Zomatoer freak! haha)

I couldn't have asked for a better time in Melbourne, but now it's time for a roadtrip down the Great Ocean Road!!! woohoo!!!
