From Brussels I took my favourite mode of transportation in Europe: FlixBus!
For only 5euros I was able to book a direct bus with wifi and very comfortable seats making the trip a breeze!

I was excited about Lille because I thought it would be magically beautiful and would have an amazing christmas market... I was in part right.

The city was really pretty with its colourful architecture, stone streets, and had this very charming feeling of a French little town.

Bakeries selling pain au chocolate were easy to spot but my favourite sweet tooth place was "Aux Merveilleux de Fred." This shop was on the way to my hostel and I saw a huge line but didn't pay too much attention, shortly after walking by it a couple of times i noticed that it had never not had a line so of course I went to check it out!

I stopped in front of the window and stared at the women holding a meringue and then putting whipped cream on it and then rolling it in chocolate! LOOKED SO DELISH... I had to have one... or two! hehe (I did go for the mini ones though!)

From there I kept walking and found Lille's cathedral which was... surprising.
I walked to the cathedral and the facade was very much modern and thought it was very strange and didn't match at all the rest of the town! This cathedral turned out to be from the mid 1800's but with war and economic crisis and what not it was never finished. It wasn't until the 1990's that a project was put in place and with public fundings the cathedral was finished but its facade did not match at all the rest of the church!

Walking made me hungry so I headed to the christmas market and OMG... the food!!!
Everything looked so good, they had raclette, all kinds of meet stuff and these potatoes with cheese that looked so good (although very unhealthy) but I just had to have one!

Doesn't it look delicious?

Tools made out of chocolate!

At night the market came to life with its lights and the christmassy vibe; people drinking mulled wine, everybody covered up because it's so cold, children walking all around, the music... I loved it!

Chocolate, anyone?

Roasted Chestnuts in the plaza!

Two full days in Lille was a lot of time to explore the town, although the last day rained non stop and wasn't much I could do I felt like I saw enough. Now time for Paris!!!!
