After Kazbegi we returned to Tbilisi for the night and then headed to Borjomi, a very famous town with spring mineral water and where Georgia’s famous Borjomi water comes from.

Ingrid and I headed once again to Didube bus station by metro and got a direct bus to Borjomi. Once we arrived we settled in our hostel and then went out to explore.

To be completely honest Borjomi was not that exciting but it was very nice. The first thing we did was go get some fruit and vegetables to munch on and then headed to the old town. First we passed through a park and since it was sunday it was full of locals, it reminded me a little bit of home and the park above my house. The park had tons of rides and games for children, food from popcorn to cotton candy and ice cream were being sold, everybody seemed so happy! Some of my favorite childhood memories were spent at the park going down the cement slides and learning how to ride a bike on a sunday morning.

We walked through the main town, looking at the local shops selling fruits and vegetables and then headed back and to the water park where the spring water is. We crossed a couple of bridges and then we hit touristy town! The ambiance on the place changed drastically from a nice local park to rows of tourist shops with souvenirs, overpriced restaurants and a new looking town with the water park at the end.

It drives me crazy when people do not know how to queue and even more crazy when they get to the front of the line after 20 minutes and they don’t know what entrance they want or have 100 questions! I swear queues in this part of the world take 10 times longer because everybody wants to cut, so annoying.

We got into the water park, which is not like a wet n’ wild, it was pretty much a regular park with a stream passing by and some pools with mineral water on one side. Our first stop was to get some of the famous mineral water. We emptied our bottles and were ready to taste refreshing water from the springs of Bojormi but… it was sulfuric water that tasted like hard boiled eggs had been boiling in it for a couple of weeks. The water even felt heavy, I tried to have a sip but immediately spitted it out. Ingrid thought I was exaggerating but then she tried it and did the same! It really was disgusting!

We kept walking and decided to stop by the stream and we eventually moved on to the grass for a nap.

We ended our visit to the park by taking the funicular to the top of the hill and walking back down heading to the hostel until we left the next day for Kutaisi.
