On my birthday I decided we should go to the David Sheldrick Wildlife trust to check to some of the orphan elephants.

In order to keep the elephants as wild as possible the orphanage is open to visitor only for an hour (from 11am to 12pm) every day.

During that time the elephants are brought into a common area where the visitors can take a closer look at the really cute elephants! The tiny ones are beyond hilarious when they play roughly with each other.

I don't think they know how big they are!

While the elephants are going around  the compound, one member of staff is on the microphone sharing information about all the elephants that we are looking at. We were told the story of how they got there, what had happened to them in the wild, and the plan to be released. Some of the stories were actually really sad, many of them involving poachers and the elephants becoming orphans.

Fun dirt bath!

The first group leaving...

And the second group arrived... With bottles!!!
So cute to see the elephants drinking from the bottles!

Some of them needed a little help:

But some were very much independent!

And some preferred water... and spitting it!

Some liked the coldness of the wet ground

And some liked to chew on branches

and some just liked to chill!

From the Elephant Orphanage we headed to the Giraffe center to see, touch, feed, or even kiss the giraffes!!! In my last trip to Nairobi I visited the center and loved it so much I thought it would be fun to visit it again and take the girls.

April Feeding a giraffe.

Sita's turn to feed!

Failed picture of the three of us with a giraffe!

Our day ended at the Masai Market to buy some souvenirs to take back home!

A month in Kenya flew by! Now ready for my new adventure!!!
