My friend Leslie came to visit me in El Salvador so my mom took a day off and we went to Guatemala!!!

Crossing the border!
We left San Salvador at about 7am to let Leslie sleep in since she had just arrived the day before but praying for the border not to be too crowded.
Well, our prayers didn't quite pay off. We arrived and the drive throughs were closed and the line for immigration was super long. We stood in line for about 15 minutes and moved barely nothing. My mom decided to go to the bathroom and on the way she found an immigration officer and asked when the drive through would open and he said: "right now, I'm opening this one" so we skipped the line and were the first ones to go through! woohoo  (this teaches me to still believe in my good luck!)

At about lunch time we arrived in Antigua, we dropped off our bags at my uncle's place and set to explore.

Mom and Leslie shopping!

Antigua is a great place to go shopping for souvenirs! They have so many beautiful stuff to choose from!

Having lunch and using our reusable straws! haha
After lunch we walked around town...

We stopped by the main cathedral and central park.

And then went to the inside market to look at more shops!

The must visit place and must take picture is at the yellow arch!

On those streets one could see a lot of local people wearing their traditional vestments and carrying products to sell in a basket on top of their head and inside the blanket wrapped around their backs!

Leslie wondering what animal shapes those were!?!?!?!

The following day we woke up early and visited the beautiful Casa Santo Domingo!

Casa Santo Domingo is a hotel built inside old ruins, a super cool place to visit!

We stopped to check out the church!

After Antigua my mom took us to check out Paseo Cayalá, a high end boutique meet apartment building meet fancy restaurants kind of place. With the high crime in Guatemala city Paseo Cayalá is perfect for those who want to go shopping, for a bite, or live in a very safe neighbourhood.

From what I heard, the architects tried to make Cayalá like a white spanish city. The whole place is really pretty and fancy, just take a look at that Taco Bell!

Found the largest Kitchen Aid ever!!

Our time in Guatemala was short but loads of fun!
